Climate control panel

The light behind the climate control panel on my 1999 Buick Regal GS got dimmer until it no longer lights up. Is this something as simple as changing a bulb? Or, is it more involved such as changing the entire unit?

Its usually as simple as changing a bulb. The only hard part might be getting at the bulb. Take a good look around and see if you can figure out how to get at it. You might be able to find some instructions for accessing it at Autozone’s online repair manuals (www.autozone.com). (But they’ve been having some problems w/ their website lately and a lot of manuals seem to be temporarily unavailable).

No idea on your particular car but on Fords the climate control unit must be removed and at least partially disassembled to replace the illumination bulds.
On Fords anyway, it’s not that hard of a job.

The bulbs will probably only be available at a dealer and brace yourself; those little things can be pricy. Quite a few years back the illumination bulb burnt out in the clock of my Mercury and that little matchhead sized light bulb was 7.50 + tax.
