Clicking when turning

I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee. Recently it has started making a clicking noise when I turn the wheel hard and either go forward or backwards. Also, and maybe or maybe not relative, when I break very hard there is a rattling. All of this noise and feeling comes from the front driver side wheel. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks,

Jason

It sure sounds to me like you have a failing CV joint on that front driver’s side wheel. A clicking noise while turning is a classic sign of this problem, and the rattling while braking could be related to this also, although there is also a chance that a bad ball joint could be involved.

While a snapped CV joint will merely strand you, a broken ball joint could cause you to have a nasty accident. I would suggest that you have both the CV joints and the ball joints checked a.s.a.p.
