I have a 2002 Chevy Cavalier. When driving the car just cuts out. After approx. 8 minutes it starts up again as though nothing is wrong. Diagnostics shows nothing. The last time this happened was on the NJT almost got myself killed. Luckily I was able to pull over to the shoulder. Anyone have any idea what is wrong? Help!!
So when the vehicle dies and refuses to start, does it crank ok?
If you had somebody with you when the vehicle refuses to start, you could do some of the basic tests. Have them crank the vehicle while you check for spark and injector pulse, fuel pressure, if you have a gage with you.
How long has it been since the vehicle has had a tune-up? Are the filters ok? I guess there weren’t any codes?
I had an issue like this on a 91 wrangler, I know it is a different company but could be the same problem. There was a short in the computer and it had to be replaced. The dealer(s)could not reproduce the problem until I took them for a ride.
