Check Engine Light

My 1992 Mazda B2600i p/u just reached 60,000 miles. The check engine light came on. How do I reset the light to turn it off after service is completed?

When the dealer/ repair shop completes the repair they reset the light (or they are supposed to).

On older vehicles, you can, often, reset the light if you disconnect the battery for a minuet. On newer vehicles, a scan tool has to be used.

And in some cases, it will go out after a few driving cycles.

Some auto part stores may be willing to reset it for you for free. I can’t remember, but I believe that a 1992 may be reset using a simple procedure. You might want to check your owner’s manual if you have it, or someone here may post the directions.

pull the cover off the right side of the knee bolster, and flip the switch.

out.
