I use a stylus and still have problems😀
Yeah it’s an iPad thing. Sometimes I correct it and other times just let it go.
I mean, are these things properly calibrated at the factory - iOS and Android devices?
I should not be having the same patterns repeat across devices, like the “C” issue I mentioned above.
You are getting redirects, all the time. This is one that happens to be visibly malicious.
It’s the ones you’re getting that quietly grab information off your phone that I would be more worried about.
Your iPhone Safari browser does not block any redirects.
Is there a reason you wouldn’t try an adblocker for your Safari browser? There are several reputable ones available.
Once you try a good adblocker, you’ll never go back to not having one.
The security weakness of any device running a browser is far worse than the industry wants to admit. iOS is one of the more secure ones too. Not the browser, but the security layer in iOS that contains the browser. Well it’s entirely possible that the malware that has infected your iOS device is still contained within the browser iOS app and it hasn’t been able to spread to other places within your iOS device.
Browsers keep getting more complicated and with that the number of security issues increase at the same rate. There is basically one code base now, it’s webkit or Blink that is the basis for Chromium, Safari, chrome, and now even Edge. Mozilla has a very small user base now, and its security is just as bad. If a 5MB browser from 1998 had one exploit in a year, today a 150MB one has 30 in a year.
Other than Apple limiting what apps you’re allowed to install on your own iOS device, and the locked boot loader, iOS devices are some of the best. The boot loader is in ROM so malware can’t brick it. You can always force it to boot in to a “DFU” factory reset.
I’ve been having difficulty accessing the site so I’m a few days behind in replying. I sent this thread to our developer and he said he found it unlikely that this is a site problem but he was sending it along to our ad provider for another look.
additionally regarding the jumping when scrolling from ads may bump into limitations on mobile that don’t exist as much on desktop. He’s going to look again, but there’s issues with the height of the ads and the way the ads preload.
I’m getting it also, on my iPhone. And it’s only via CarTalk, no other sites.
It’s more likely buggy coding, syntax errors, not actual virus.
Finally someone other than me experiencing the problem.
I have done so many things on my end to solve the issue with absolutely no luck. The folks on here believe I have a virus and that scares me. I spent hours on the phone ( video call ) with Apple technicians and they assured me that my phone is not the issue. My friend who is a computer specialist and works for IT assured me it’s not my device.
Nowhere else on the internet causes me to get redirected. Absolutely nowhere else.
I also believe it’s bad coding on this site and it’s not intentional.
Sadly we both seem to be the laughingstock of CarTalk community, the dumpsters for all derision and refutiation.
For the record, I am sorry you are having this issue..
But the one of 2 things that you have NOT done is to add an ad blocker, or try DDG, like I said, this all stems around the ads, get ride of the ads and you get ride of the problem… I don’t understand why you don’t at least try one or the other, DDG is FREE and Blocks 100% of the Ads…
Worst case if you hate it, then just uninstall the app…
I know you have been trying to help solve my issue, which I sincerely appreciate.
I dislike downloading stuff on this phone which is why I haven’t tried your suggestion just yet.
Know though I’ll be considering your advice.
What is “it”? Are you being redirected to virus websites?
