I am looking for new all season tires for my 2005 pontiac grand am. this is my first time loking for tires and i dont know what i am looking for at all. what is the best brand? i travel from toronto back to sudbury many times a month for univerity. and my only concern is the really bad weather here in sudbury.
www.tirerack.com and www.1010autos.com have some good consumer review sections. There’s lots of good data there.
Agree; there are amny good websites. From personal experience, avoid the “Marshall” brand, a Korean import, since they go out of balance as they wear out unevenly.
If you are a Costco member, all Costco tires are OK, and have good warranties. Sears normally has good tires as well, but you need to buy them on sale; their regular prices tend to be high.
My nephew sell Hankook tires which are attractively priced and he reports very few returns and many happy customers. Avoid anything made in China at this time.
It will be easy to find good tires for your car, and the choice will wide.
Good Luck!
Get a membership to Costco, Sam’s or BJ’s and get the free road hazard extension. Any brand will do. The profile of Grand Am tires is lousy for snow travel, so maybe get four snow tires or get a car that uses taller (narrower) tires.
The best all-weather tires I know of winter/summer and are winter tire rated are these -> http://www.canadiandriver.com/articles/hl/nokian.htm
They are priced on par with Michelin/Bridgestone etc but do last a while at 50k miles at least in my experience of two sets.
