I’m a huge fan of the show but noticed most discussion involves phrases like “I seem to recall an episode I heard a rerun of a few years back, where…”
I’ve been looking for a few episodes and couldn’t find them. And I couldn’t find a guide to episodes, either.
So, behold… the beginnings of a Car Talk episode guide!

For example: 6 years later and the refrigerator cheesecake is still undiscovered: Episode of car talk where guy eats cheesecake in front of refrigerator
That’s a great idea @cartalkeps_190817 . I’ve often wanted to search for which recent podcast had the caller with this or that problem, this or that car, etc. LIke which fairly recent podcast has the caller with the headliner falling down problem? Usually I know the appx date of the podcast I’m looking for, so even just a text file showing for the list of podcasts every caller’s name, their car, and their symptom would be helpful. Searchable of course.
btw, your proposed format would tell me more than I need to know and be a little awkward to use. No complaints, just saying.
Thanks @George_San_Jose1 !

That’s exactly what I’m working on building! You can also look at every episode where they talk about 2010s Camrys, or when a caller is doing a DIY job.
Searchable of course.
I do plan to have search, but for now I hope people can use it through their search engine.
Here’s an example: a while back I was trying to find the episode where they talk about “the Car Talk Diet” (their dad put food in a microwave, heated it up, then forgot about it). So I searched car talk episode "car talk diet"
but didn’t find anything. (I still haven’t found that episode, btw!). I’m hoping that with this guide, the exact right episode page will show up for searches like that.

Good to know, thanks. I’m hoping others will want to contribute, and a style can emerge.
Right now I’m finishing the guide for all 2012 episodes - where they’re talking about the most recent cars. Others might be more interested in starting earlier, or giving a synopsis of the most recent podcast episodes.
You’re off to a great start! Would love to see this for more shows but so far the format looks good, I’ve got a few calls that I remember particularly but one of them I have no idea of the year but the subject matter was one of a kind.
Caller wanted suggestions for a vehicle to take through Mongolia on the way to a center of Asia monument that in a part of Russia bordering Mongolia. They advised the caller to seek out a Land Rover or could someone help her find out what’s a common local off roader. have no idea if the caller went on the adventure.
Maybe the folks here who listen to the current podcasts can make a note of all the caller’s names, their cars, and the symptoms and mail the list to you.
I should note that many of the posters here say they aren’t interested in the show or listening to the podcasts.
Why is this guide even needed when the Car Talk wed site has them all archived?
