Car died for one second while driving, engine light on, then everything back to normal

Last night, as I was driving about 20 mph, the interior lights of my car dimmed for a second, then came back on.

Then today, when I was doing 65 mph on the highway, my car suddenly died or lost power or skipped – it gave a lurch which made me look at the control panel, and I saw the check engine light come on. I took my foot off the gas, then the light went away and I could feel the car start again, so I got off the highway and drove the rest of the way home on city streets (without incident).

I’m taking it in to the dealer tomorrow morning, but wonder if anyone has any idea what this might have been caused by and what kind of repair bill I’m looking at. Thanks! It’s a 2002 Hyundai Accent with about 87,000 miles on it.

Good, now there should be a code which can be read with a scanner, giving the mechanic a head start.
