Maybe it’s not the lifters making the noise. Is the oil pressure OK?
And how about make, model, year of the vehicle?

I don;t care for this new format either. I think they were trying to respond to our constant requests for this info, and I appreciate the attempt, but there must be a better way.
Year, milleage, and some history (new lifters?) would be a big help.
The simple answer is no. If the cam position sensor were bad the engine would not run. It tells the ECU where the cam position is for he purposes of timing the ignition and injector pulses.
