My mechanic told me yesterday that our CAM seals are leaking on our 2000 Camry. Is the car OK for local driving until we can afford to have the car fixed? Will we be causing any damage to the engine by continuing to drive the car?
The only damage will be an oil mess on the engine/transmission and your parking spot. How much oil is leaking? If it’s pouring out I would find some way to get them replaced. If it’s a few drops then you can probably drive it as is for a little while. When you get them replaced try to find the aftermarket variety seal with double “O” rings. They are far superior to the OEM variety.
