Hi I’ve got a 95 dodge caravan that has a non working air compressor. I don’t care to put money into a luxury like air conditioning, but when I use my defrost in the winter it tries to run it, which makes a regular hissing noise. Is there some easy way I can disable the compressor so it will not try to activate?
Unplug the electrical connector to the compressor clutch.

And if the clutch later seizes, Autozone and Advance make idler pulleys that replace the air cond. compressor.
