Brake pedal squeaks when released

My brake pedal squeaks when I release it, for the last two weeks. Does this mean I need maintenance, repair, or some oil?

More than likely the plastic bushing on which the brake pedal pivots is dirty/dry. Try spraying a silicone lubricant on the bushing to see if it gets rid of the squeak.

Um … would the bushing be inside the cabin, or under the hood?

Under the dash, above the brake pedal.
