I have a small box trailer with leaf springs. I heard squeaking noises under it and found that the springs lay under the metal frame of the trailer with no type of rubber cushions. Attached is a picture. Shouldn’t there be rectangular rubber grommets surrounding the ends of the leaf springs to insulate from metal rubbing on metal? Did rubber insulating grommets fall off of this old box trailer? I can make rubber insulators if I can’t find any OEM types anywhere.
I entered"Buick" in the search tag dialog box by mistake but now can’t figure out how to delete it…
That’s a slipper spring. There are no rubber bushings/cushions.
When they start to make noise you apply some grease between the spring frame.

Thanks Tester, I can see that your spring is just like mine and so I know you are familiar with my spring issue. I will grease then up.
Yup. You can look at new springs at northern tool but not sure if the have that type. I think on the old old snow mobile trailer it had those springs. Mine have had shackles at both ends since then.
Thanks for your reply. Yet I think that “Tester” is spot on about the issue in his reply.. ..
