I’m told Kia’s are prone to this occurence of a locked in place shifter for a couple of reasons, one of which is the shift lock solenoid, hard to get to and pricey. Before removing is there a way of testing whether it’s the problem?
Maybe you could disconnect the shift cable at the transmission and verify you can move the gear selector at the transmission.Verify no open circuits or blown fuses in the electrical side of the shift lock system.
Hi oldschool, Not sure if you got my reply thanking you for the advice which I am finally following up on due to my daughter’s (the real owner) change of mind. geezel
