Auto parts from Copart cars

I do not, but the old adages syas: Money Talks. if you pay a mechanic enough, I’m sure you could find someone that can accommodate you. it seems you have done this before, so perhaps you are looking for a cheaper way of doing this than you have in the past. For that, I am unable to offer concrete help.

some potential ideas: local school mechanics class? a local mechanic shop with an apprentice that would welcome more experience removing parts? a local body shop with an apprentice that would welcome more experience removing parts?

perhaps google ‘automobile disassemblers near me’ and see if anything pops?

Problem - he’s in eastern Europe.

ohh, I took it as he was in the US and trying to ship car parts to Easter Europe. My bad. I’m not sure I would be interested in doing this based on phone or email conversations. yikes.

I guess I don’t get it, why not just order the parts from a scrapyard and get them shipped?

For crying out loud , why are you being logical ?

For example, a used hood for a 2010 Ford mustang is $1000 listed on LKQ.
A complete Mustang listed on Copart can be bought for $2000, includes doors, fenders, bumper cover, interior and powertrain.

If you are in the auto salvage business you don’t buy from the competition, you buy complete cars as does the competition.

make sure volume is on

I spent some time searching. I found a company that offers car dismantling and shipping of parts. Two people need 14 hours to dismantle the car. One container can hold 20 dismantled cars. Interestingly, this is a shipping company, not a car recycling company. I sent them an email and am waiting for a reply with details.

Of course, you are right. But I didn’t say I wanted to do it for free. I realize that I have to pay extra for dismantling the car, waste disposal and loading it into a container.

I wrote this because a lot of people said what I was doing was stupid and I couldn’t make money like that. I know it is possible. So what are the advantages of such answers?

However, I would like to thank those people who tried to help me

Have you actually looked at the costs of buying these parts and shipping them to where you are and comparing that to the tax you’d have to pay if you bought the whole vehicle? I think you’ll find that the tax might be the cheapest option.

#2…Let’s say you get quotes and find it is cheaper. And you have the place dismantle the vehicle and send you the parts. You’ll have to pay upfront. You wait a couple months for them to be shipped…and when they arrive you find that the parts are from a 1968 VW Bug. Then what? Try and get your money back.

I don’t know that anyone said your idea was stupid. Many people including me have tried to point out the things that could cause you to lose money . The simple thing about open Forums is that you will get replies that don’t match what you want or even match the subject.

Edit : I am going to compare this idea to what a person I know tried to do ( not vehicle related but still a money making project ) . He saw the reality show Storage Wars and decided to try it . It did not take long to find out that he was buying units that might only have a few things that he could actually sell plus getting the word out as to what he had was difficult.

I didn’t see anyone saying the idea was stupid. I did question weather or not he actually did a cost comparison. I don’t think it would be cheaper doing it this way. Dismantling the vehicle and then shipping it is going to cost a lot of money. It would would be cheaper the just ship the vehicle. I seriously doubt the tax is going to more then the dismantling and crating and shipping individual parts.

It’s definately not a stupid idea and certainly not “stupider” then Elon Musk starting a new car company to make electric vehicles and a private company to send men to Mars and he’s raking it in hand over fist but the key is to success is careful Planning.

You’ve taken the initial steps, created the concept and asking specific questions so the next step is developing solutions to the noted problems.

Always remember that your critics are often your most valuable resource, who can warn you of potential pitfalls and create solutions before you stumble into them.

You said earlier “Sorry for my English but it’s not my native language.” Your English is fine and you have no need to apologize. Your English is far better than my one non-English language.

I have no ideas to help with your original question, unfortunately. Good luck with it.
