My engineer friend is all for efficiency and practicality.
Says that he should really have my AWD SUV whichaulso much that his Corvette cannot.
The SUV has hauled many things for him.
He was concerned that some idiot may purposely damage his nice-looking vehicle.
(Woman in the same area keyed a Tesla but was caught because it videoed her.)
As a registered tree-hugger and Greenie I park away from othersimply to park in the first parking spacencountered so that I can shut off thenginearlier.
I walk the greater distance to the store or establishment. Others drive around trying to find closer spaceso less walking.
Often I find a shopping cart and wife gets on as I take ito the store.
Politicians, to survive, need to bend w/the wind to get their campaign donations, not much anybody here can do about that; but I think most folk irrespective of their political leanings agree that a thief who purposely steals a car should go to jail for a time lengthy enough to make it really inconvenient, a year at least for purposeful car theft imo, 6 months if they behave themselves 100% while in jail. The problem judges have is the accused thiefâs defense attây will claim their client didnât actually intend to steal the car, the other guy (a friend of the accused) actually planned & did the stealing, the the client just happened by at the time, and got in for a ride home, not knowing the car was stolen.
If the convictions did not involve bodily harm to the victims that might be why he wasnât in jail. Iâm not saying itâs right, only offering a plausible reason. A friend and his wife lived in a changing area. They pulled into their driveway behind their house one night and as soon as my friend got out of the car he found a pistol in his face. They were robbed and as soon as they got inside he called the police. They asked if anyone was injured and no one was. The police said there was so much crime that they only had enough officers to investigate crimes where the victim was injured or killed. It happened again a short while later. They developed a routine to draw attention to themselves any time they drove into their driveway. That seemed to keep the criminals away long enough to sell the house. Sucks, donât it?
