At last, Tesla makes the right decision

And it’s back! Tesla is taking orders for their new roadster.

0-60 in 1.9 seconds
Quarter mile in 8.8 seconds.

According to Tesla, of course. Once there are test models available we’ll see what arm’s length reviewers have to say.

I’m probably being the idiot here by replying, but you must be one of those people who believes that because a car is faster and has a bigger engine that it is more dangerous. Perhaps you work for insurance? I thought it was fairly obvious that a fast car attracts a driver who is high risk and ends up crashing. Or you’re trying to play verbal gymnastics and claim that was trying to claim that faster cars are more dangerous or something regardless of the driver. Whatever it is you will try to turn everything in to an argument.

sorry this is not true. most corvette owners are 50 years old and above and take care of their cars better than there kids. yes you do get a couple of people that push the limits. mostly kids who got one from there rich parents, or someone who has never drove a vehicle with a lot of HP. or some idiot crashing into them.
there are no more accidents with corvettes than any other vehicle. its probably the opposite. some of the accidents you might have seen lately in the news were stolen and then crashed. and now I am out of the post.

In my neck of the woods, it is very rare to see a Corvette being driven by anyone other than an elderly man, and they always seem to be driven very sedately.

that’s because they have a 75k -100k plus car. when they want to go fast safely and want a rush they will take it to a track and have a track day. just like mustangman does. I would bet if you see him on the road he would be driving normal. now on the track that is probably… hammer down. LOL.

If you look at an image search online for Corvette crash, most of the crashes seem to be some kind of lane departure crash with the corvette ending up spun around. These kinds of crashes tend to be from racing. If the Corvette fatality statistic is based on miles driven, then it’s no wonder that a garage queen would be a very dangerous car per mile driven if it’s only taken out for demonstrations.

If you look up Tesla crash, there seems to be a bit of everything, and a lot of pictures of burnt out cars, and autopilot incidents which are usually not fatal. I don’t know if it’s mostly the media trying to get attention for the Teslas catching on fire often thing, or if they really do often catch on fire after crash.

Here is a good example of how autopilot can fail quite badly. Imagine if it steered the car in to the back of a stopped semi trailer. Another Tesla Autopilot Crash Has Wrecked A Model 3 In Greece

With his mindset not gonna happen.

\\Agree///.

Yup… The track is the place for speed, not the street.

Funny, when I started driving some 55+ years ago, the car was never blamed for the accident.

Agree just part of the car was blamed like a tire blow out or brakes failed etc or the big one the loose NUT behind the wheel. :grinning:

Or the short circuit between the steering wheel and the gas pedal.

Yep forgot about that one.

$75k is only because of covid and limiting their number of vettes they can produce. Which is about half of what they were producing so the demand is very very high. Normal years the Vette can be had for under $65,000. And then there’s the used market…but they are inflated as well. Just before Covid hit a co-worker bought a 2017 Stingray 7-speed manual with less than 10k miles for about $40,000. I’ve driven it a couple times. Great vehicle. When car prices come back to normal I’m going to get one. Probably pre mid-engine.

sorry, I should have been more specific. I was talking about buying new corvettes not used.

What do your old work buds tell you about the C8? Has it improved over your last post on that subject?

Edit: oops! I misread names. I meant that question for @Mustangman. You can give your opinion too, of course, Mike.

I hear production seems to still have production issues from shortages. Work continueson new models… the Z06 is almost at job 1. The first car to be auctioned at Barrett Jackson Scottsdale. I saw a lot for auction at Mecum’s Kissimmee auction last summer taking advantage of the high demand and short supply. Seems like ths early bugs have been worked out, though.
