Front and back bumper has severely peeled and in desperate need of repair, color is Melbourne Red. The color on the body on the car however is good.
A guy at a repair shop told me about 2013 red European cars with the same issues, I was able to locate the same with the Mercedes vehicles and a subsequent class action lawsuit. I’m wondering if there’s a similar class action for BMW? I’d like some help$ in paying for a paint job, which won’t be cheap. Any info is appreciated, thx!
On a 12 year old car, good luck
You can Google looking for a class action suit, but those rarely get the individual owners much in the way of compensation.
Many vehicles have paint problems, especially older cars like yours, horizontal surfaces are more common.
Have the bumper covers repainted if you wish, save all the paper work, get good “before” pictures. Maybe if there is a successful class action, you might get a few dollars back.
If you’ll allow the repair shop a certain amount of color mismatch, with no guarantees how long the color match they do achieve it holds, just repainting the bumpers probably isn’t a budget buster. If you want the entire car repainted to look like it just came from the showroom, then that will be quite expensive. No idea whether the legal-system approach would work. Google will usually find class-actions. Have you tried that? Frustrating problem, but suggest to put things in perspective. Best of luck.
