Antenna repair

Does anyone know how much (approximatley) it would cost to reapir my 2004 Hyundai Elantra power antenna? - Is it easy enough where I could do it myself? I really don’t want to get ripped off.

depends if MAST or ASSY is needed.

must try mast first. if motor runs, maybe fuse, radio, ant relay too much to mention.

needs diagnosis.

BANDIT GONE!

One thing that happens that complicates a mast replacement is when a piece of the mast transport cable (it is like thick weed eater material) breaks off in the motorized part of the power antenna, you can’t get the new mast to feed all the way in.

But sometimes mast replacements go real easy, unscrew the top nut,run the mast out turn off the power, put the new mast in the hole and turn on the power, pulls it right in.

well said!

alot of hyundais will accept the extra feed line,BUT MOST CARS WILL NOT !

without taking the housing apart, and removing the broken portion.

as I said above,NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT AND DIAGNOSED!

BANDIT! SAILING!

Power antenna’s are very passe. I would suggest seeing if you can simply find a manual version or fixed point(try JC Whitney) and be done with it.

One of the stupidest automotive designs out there. I thought they died off in the late 1990’s…
