I have a almost new set of studded tires for my 1999 Subaru Legacy wagon - 195/60-15. I’d like to sell my Subaru , but if possible, I’d like to keep the studded tires to use on my wife’s 2001 Mazda Protege. The Mazda has a tire size of 195/55-15. Would the studded tires be compatible with the Mazda?
Yes, they will probably be fine. They will be slightly taller and may change the accuracy of the speedometer, but not by too much. There’s about a 10 mm difference in sidewall height, so figure 20mm increase in overall diameter, a little less than an inch.
I would use them if it were my car.
