All power windows 2001

Pontiac grand prix 2001, none of the power windows will work, There is no fuse. Just the metal 25amp circuit breaker with the regular fuses. Everything else power works fine, just no windows. Manual shows no other location for a fuse in glove box or under hood, Any help on why not working be appreciated. Ty

On a nearly 25 year old car, it could be several things.

Is there really no fuse?

Do none of the power window switches work, or just the one on the driver’s side?

Check for electrical continuity in the circuit breaker. If there isn’t any, replace the circuit breaker. If there is, check for electrical continuity at the power window switch box on the driver’s side.

All the power for the power windows pass thru drivers master window switch,

I’d be looking at the wiring in the rubber conduit that runs between the body and the door of the vehicle to see if there’s a broken wire for the power window circuit.

The circuit breaker is the fuse, have you replaced it??

Did all the window stop working at once, or one at a time??

A circuit breaker is just a fuse that resets itself when it blows…
You might be able to just install a normal 25amp fuse in place of the circuit breaker to see if the windows work then…

A circuit breaker is a fuse, just like in your house power panel. It just resets itself after blowing. They do go bad so first just replace it for a few bucks or as said, check fir current before and after.

Well, you have to reset it, right?

The circuit breaker on a car re-sets itself when it cools down, but they do wear out.

Ah, I didn’t know that. Look like this?

I think mainly used on circuits you don’t want out for any length of time like headlights. A little unnerving on the highway on a dark night and your headlights go out, then on again 15 seconds later. After the initial shock, learn to flip to high beam right away which was on a separate circuit. Joys of driving.

nope no fuse hard to believe.

You should be able to replace the ‘metal 25 amp circuit breaker’. It should just pull out.

yea car sat for 2 days an still didnt work waiting for new circuit thru mail. not one auto store even carried it

thats my fear, 60 year old woman and hoping I was missing something. Electrical out of my league and hoping to avoid mechanic at what they charge alone just to look at it.. Water heater in house blew and that alone is cost

No guaranty . Normally you’d check with a meter first. Next likely point of failure is the wires by the door hinge as mentioned. Then the master switch itself.

I have a few that I use for electrical diags, that I install when I am chasing a circuit that keeps blowing fuses, as Bing said, they cool down and reset, they cost more than a basic fuse, but much cheaper than replacing fuse after fuse after fuse…
