I depress the brake pedal (the brake lights work) and hear the relays click. The shifter lock will not release. To move the floor shifter I have to use a small screwdriver to push the manual over ride. I’m ready to call for dealer service as my usual mechanic has no idea what to do, or so he says. Any thoughts?
The solenoid at the gear shift may not be working of the lock may have become disconnected from the solenoid. The only way I can think of to check is remove the console.
Ask your mechanic why he can’t disassemble the console and inspect the shifter lock solenoid to see why it isn’t working.
