My wife and I received a '99 Explorer about 6-9 months ago. My niece was going to trade it, but my mom-in-law didn’t want to because she had put money into trying to fix it. Well I have done same now. No one can seem to find this problem. Here are symptoms.
On occasion it will sputter and die. It acts like it’s not getting fuel. Once dead, it may crank back up, but not always. Mostly it does. This happens on hills, flat terrain, in turns, and driving straight. The fuel injectors have been cleaned. The fuel pump and oxygen sensor replaced. I am to where I don’t trust it with my wife driving it. It has seen a dealer in North Carolina and two different mechanics in Mississippi.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
