97 Ford escort need help finding out what this part is

I was told this broke bar was a trailing arm, it’s not but I’m not positive what it is. Can anyone help. I don’t want to buy another part I don’t need. Please and thank you

I only see rust and more rust. I have no idea what part you are referring to.

From the position of the muffler, it looks like it could be the rear lower control arm.
