My 97 explorer makes left turns just fine but I turn right it feels like I have no power steering. Any suggestions?
I’d have a mechanic put the vehicle on a lift and perform a thorough examination of the suspension and steering components.
This sounds dangerous to me.
I was wondering if anybody might think its the rack and pinion?

Yes, I’d suspect the spool valve portion of the steering rack.
You may also have something binding a component of the steering system, including the ball joints. Prehaps even al alligator. Get this looked at ASAP. This could be dangerous.
