I have 1996 Infiniti I30. I have had to replace the brake light switch on multiple occasions. And even now it appears that I may have to again after replacing it about a two months ago. What would cause this, faulty switches or internal electrical problem?
The switches may not have been adjusted correctly. The switch will fail mechanically if not adjusted correctly.
Install the switch. Measure from the end of the threaded part of the switch to the stop on the brake pedal. The spec is .025 inches. To adjust the switch, loosen the locknut on the switch and rotate the switch until the .025 measurement is acheived. Tighten the locknut.
