Hello. My avalon’s transmission will not work. When I try to pull it out of park, the button only goes in about a centimeter and will not move. I have tried to do it manually and that also did not work.
See if your brake light is working.
My dads 95 ford has a switch that will not let shifter to work if break light does not work.
On some models you have to have foot on break pedal to shift out of park,if switch says you are not putting foot on pedal it will not let you shift
When you say “I have tried to do it manually and that also did not work.” are you referring to the manual override slot that you push a key or tool into to get the shifter out of Park? If even that override is not working the problem is most likely in the shifter mechanism.
