I have a Dodge Ram 1500 1997. My question is my four wheel drive does not seem to engaged any more when I put in four wheel drive. Last year my 4X4 light came when I engaged it but some times it flickered allot. This year the light has not came on yet and the four wheel drive has not come on either. Why is it not engaged it any more and is it a easy fix?
I believe there is a fuse for this that tends to go out.
Also possible on a truck this age ( true in my 92 Explorer ) is that electrical connections and contacts need cleaned. In my case I clean the contacts inside the 4x4 shift motor cover. If I go a winter or two without using 4x4 they tend to corrode a tad and a good cleaning fixes everything.
