2024 Acura RDX - Premium or is regular ok?

At the TopTier station I go to non ethanol is 90 octane. Some other stations are 89.
Gas with “up to 10% ethanol”: 87, 89, and 93.

Do you know how they get 90 octane without ethanol?

Ok, the answer is you have no idea then. You know what I mean. How do they achieve 93 octane without ethanol?

Like I said, toluene is the mentioned most. Here are all the various chemicals with high octane ratings, a few of them could be used:

You’re just plain ridiculous. Just keep it filled with premium.

What are the three columns on the right?

Two octane ratings and their average:

Not like today. Back then, 1 HP per cubic inch was a big deal. My wife’s daily driver has 2.6 HP per cubic inch.

Well I think way back, ethanol was seen as a way to stretch petroleum supplies, not an octane booster. I think that came later to sell the product. Lots of farmers invested heavily in it.

Not like today. In 1968 the HP ratings were at the flywheel. Now HP is measured at the wheels. IIRC rating 1968 HP as BHP would reduce it by at least 20%, more if there are a lot of power hogging options on the engine.

Like I have said before, I use the non oxy premium for all my small engine plus I use stabilizer. Watching a repair video on a chain saw with fuel problems. The gas line in the tank hard turned to jelly. And the two carb diaphragms were warped and shot and non functional. The tech said it was from ethanol gas, maybe because it sat too long, I dunno. Other guys say they just use the same stuff as in their car. But I did have a problem both with my mower fuel pump and generator jet before I just quit using the stuff.

When you need stuff like a generator or chain saw, that’s no time to look for parts and repair.

I hope the OP invites all his friends to visit Car Talk to learn about lawnmower fuel.

On the other hand, lawn mower fuel, no ethanol, 90 octane, would be okay as it is above the mid-range 89 octane the OP plans to use.
Plus, currently $0.07 less per gallon than 93 gas with ethanol at my flying horse (see, no brand name!) station.

I was really paying attention to the Lawn Mower fuel discussion until remembered that all of my lawn equipment is battery powered.

Is road tax collected when purchasing recreational 90 gasoline? Perhaps people get away with doing so but this shouldn’t be encouraged.

I think you are just upset because gas lawn mowers or generators or pressure washers or chain saws or the rest are not allowed.

Yes, though little is used for road use, though when getting ethanol free, I might top off the truck. I don’t find lawn mowing recreational :frowning:
