They wanted to exemplify the movie’s title by showing something that was truly impossible.
But, apparently some people believe things like that.

You actually use a fiction movie as a reference guide ? Get Serious!
IMHO OP would do better by relying on actual findings reported by other Jeep owners by searching the various repair and maintenance forums available on the internet for what these owners have said in the past about their Jeeps;
Well, RepairPal has it 18th out of 21, not so hot:
As for JD Power, Fiat was dead last in 2015:
J.D. Power 2015 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study
Consumer Reports couldn’t give the 2021 Renegade a reliability rating because the sample was too small to be able to quantify, but owners–overall–gave it an Owner Satisfaction rating of 1 out of a possible 5.
This is CR’s capsule description of the driving experience:
It doesn’t take long for the Renegade’s charms to wear thin. For starters, handling proves cumbersome, the ride is choppy, front seats are uncomfortable, and the view out is restricted. What’s more, that fancy nine-speed automatic doesn’t quite have its gear-juggling act together. It’s reluctant to downshift, leaving the 2.4-liter, 180-hp four-cylinder engine feeling underpowered and sounding raspy. At idle, this engine quivers more like a spawning grunion, sending its vibrations through the steering wheel and into the seats.
OP presumably has done a test drive, and therefore is in the best position to judge the ride quality. The claims posted above that the vehicle is unreliable is not addressed by the Consumer’s Report citation.
That’s how Consumer Reports gets its reliability ratings, to which they then apply sampling statistical analysis to come up with their reliability ratings. How can an individual do better?
I quoted the latest Consumer Reports reliability rating for this Jeep: “Worse than average”.
… but in the case of this model, the sample size was too small to be able to quantify.
Correct, not listed by year, but they did give the overall model a ‘Worse than average’ reliability rating.
I also put quite a bit of weight on their ‘Ower Satisfaction’ score, where they ask current owners if they’d buy one again. Here, it was ‘Much worse than average’. Why buy a vehicle disliked by its current owners?
If you think that is cool, you should really watch the Fast and Furious movies, some of those cars do amazing things and really hold up well under extreme use…
Just had this show up in my email inbox. The Renegade isn’t the only recent Jeep to avoid, at least according to Edmunds’ experience with the Grand Cherokee PHEV:
2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe: We Wouldn’t Buy This One Again (edmunds.com)
I’ve seen & enjoyed them all, up to most recent release, number 10. My favorites are number 2 and Tokyo Drift. I would have never believed I’d be a Vin Diesel fan, but he’s perfect for that part and does an excellent acting job.
I like a lot of his movies… lol
