I get the impression buyers like the Subaru Outback but real car guys like the Forester. One reason mentioned was turbo
Real car guys don’t buy SUVs except as a second car.

Real car guys build their own cars from one big block of steel and a bale of rubber.
They also don’t shave…they chew the whiskers off from the inside.
Outbacks and Foresters are nice little cars and I’ve had people that love them.
Never owned one myself though.

I am currently driving my third Outback, so I think it is fair to say that I really like these vehicles.
As to the Forester, the “turbo” option is no longer available.
And, then there is the question of what any of this has to do with a Lexus RX…

Or unless their wives want one. Personally though I don’t like turbos or CV transmissions, to start another argument.
Real car guys don’t like generalizations…
No Forester turbo now.
Legacy gets a turbo option for 2020, they haven’t confirmed if the Outback will follow suit.
The Outback will undoubtedly also have a turbo option, because my beloved H-6 engine has been discontinued. 
Anyway… I am still waiting for the OP to explain what his/her thread has to do with a Lexus RX.
