Why do you think it is getting extremely hot??
Temp gauge showing hot??
Over heating and pushing coolant out on the ground??
Fans going all the time and or A/C not working??
Leaking coolant??

Check Live Data to see what the ECT is showing and confirm reading..
Just got through messing with a 2016 Buick that was showing it was running hot, Live Data showed it was running much hotter than my hand and my infrared thermometer gun was showing…
This vehicle had a bad temp sensor (ECT)… You need to see what Live Data is showing, then confirm…
If you are unable to do this, then you need to take it (maybe tow) to a reputable shop for a proper diagnoses…
