2019 Nissan Pathfinder - Reliable?

can anyone who has a 2019 pathfinder tell me if its a good reliable car please. i dont kow anything about cars and i need a good one.

You have been redirected to Car Talk, so the chance of someone having the exact same year make and model is slim to none…

Toyota, Honda, Mazda are probably going to be your most reliable vehicles…

OK , do you have this vehicle or are you looking to buy one ? If looking to buy pay a shop to inspect it if the dealer or owner will let you do that . If you already have it just keep the required service up to date and hope for the best.

Look here.

Also far more important is how (or if) the vehicle has been maintained since 2019. I’d value an older car with more maintenance history much more highly than a newer model with little or no maintenance history, myself.

Others may disagree, though.

Out of the big Japanese auto manufacturers l’d prefer a Honda or Toyota, fwiw

Do you actually need an SUV?

Or would a minivan also do the job?

It was an Ask Someone Question, normally those are redirected to Car Talk from Car Complaints…

Ok thank you I live were there is snow and im not great at driving in it so it is 4wd, this is replacing my 07 dodge Durango that has 180,000 miles on it now ive had it since 2011 last few years ive been sinking money into it I need one with more life im single mom without alot of money was able to put money away for down payment. Ive been looking at reviews car complaints this one seems to be in middle so im really hoping this is a good car for awhile. I’ll keep that I mind I’ll try to save what I can on the side in case of repairs I am getting the extra warranty from carmax which covers it for some stuff while I pay it off it’s a $200 the deductible. But I’ll definitely ask for info on the cvt i go test drive it next week.

At least the CarMax in my area has a good rep for taken care of customers, and yeah the CarMax warranty seems pretty good, I worked with quite a few mechanics that added the CarMax warranty on their vehicles also and said it was a good one… I did not, but mine is still under factory warranty, and it didn’t make sense…

Might also check out the Toyota 4Runner’s if you need a mid size SUV…

I looked at them too my mom had one and went through a bad roll over accident and came out with just a bruise chest but there gas mileage is horrible and only ones in my price range already had over 100k miles. I didn’t realize how hard it is to find a good car it seems there is always something bad on all of them. I did pay attention when my ex looked at the cars but he knew what to look for. I’m just going to make sure I dont see leaks and pay attention to how it drives and hope I get a good one only thing I can really do and take it to the shop that does my car stuff and see what they think there is a 90 day grace period but I’ll double check that too.

I don’t think you have a 90 day grace period if you mean you can return the vehicle. The Carmax return is 7 days in most states.

Do you really need an Suv ? A smaller vehicle with just front wheel drive will do just fine in snow 90 percent of the time.

I had front wheel drive when I moved here i kept sliding back down my road sadly if I could I wouldn’t spend the extra trust me. I’m in a rural area with a good incline on dirt road, our last snow was 13".

Did you have dedicated snow tires and not just all season tires on the vehicle?? The condition and type of tire play a huge roll in traction in snow…

But I completely understand you needing to be able to get around in bad weather with kids…

I wouldn’t worry about reliability as long as the SUV has been well maintained. The traditional Japanese manufacturers forced the other carmakers to improve reliability. Annual repair costs among most car builders are a lot closer than they used to be. Actually maintenance costs are much higher than repair costs. Also, don’t buy anything with body rust. It could be blooming from the inside of the body panel and that is expensive to repair. If you know someone that knows cars, take them with you to look the SUV over.

Thank you unfortunately it’s just me but im going to take it to the place that fixed my last car for them to look it over

Don’t be surprised if you pay more than $100 for the service. It’s worth it though.
