I am looking to trade in my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee and found a very good deal on a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder with low mileage (59k). The Carfax report looks great except for two entries stating “Engine/powertrain computer/module reprogrammed” followed 3 months later by “Engine/powertrain computer/module checked”. I am NOT a car guy and wondered if this is routine or something that is worrisome. Also, any general thoughts on the Nissan Pathfinders would be helpful. I’ve had the Jeep for just over a year and already had to have the transmission rebuilt and several other problems. I previously owned a Maxima that was problemless so I feel confident the Nissan’s are more reliable.
Have a mechanic checkover before purchase.
Nissan Pathfinders are good bets with regards to reliability.
I don’t know about that vintage pathifnder. Last one I owned (now owned by my daughter is a 98). They are very very reliable vehicles. If that’s the only problem that came up it should probably be fine. Just keep up on the maintenance and enjoy.
