I turn off my ‘auto start and stop’ and my jeep puts the parking break on. This isn’t the only electrical problem I’ve been having.
A few times my screen wouldn’t come on, it wasn’t due to it being turned off with the volume button.
It tells me the hood is up, when clearly it isn’t. But I pop it, open and close it. When this first happened, I opened and closed it. But also left it open and put it in drive. It did not tell me the hood was open…
I’m beyond frustrated. I’m not sure what to do, the main battery is slightly low. Going to replace it today.
What is this issue and how can I fix it?
Your idea to replace the battery seems like a good first step. Ask your shop to make sure the new battery is fully charged as well. If the problems continue, post back; you may have a problematic body control module or tipm.
Agree with George’s comments.
Welcome to the forum and, unfortunately, Jeep Life.
Another Agreed with George’s post…
Better to replace both battery’s together…
After replacing those failing batteries, if those problems continue:
For the hood ajar warning message; the hood ajar switch may be malfunctioning. There is an internal memo advising dealer technicians to inspect the hood ajar switch. This will also affect the stop/start operation. Replacing the body computer will not eliminate that warning message.
For the center display; check if the radio software level is up to date. There are several updates to correct software bugs. Replacing the relay center (TIPM) would unlikely correct a radio/infotainment display problem.
