2018 Honda CR-V - Where does all that tread go?

OK - we all know that tires wear out. But where does all that worn out tire go? Simply into the air, so we can all breath old tire rubber? Isn’t this contributing to air pollution? Is this better than your old cigars? Thanks. Bill

It becomes dust on the side of the highway, not vapor into the air. Rubber is not lighter than air so it settles on the ground unless blown by the wind. But it still eventually settles.

Thanks, Mustangman. Given all the dust blowing around, I’ll bet I’ve inhaled at least one tire before it settled!
