Transmission has begun to shudder sometimes when
accelerating. Got the car new-used with 22k, now has 29k.

Your Altima should still be covered by the 5yr./60k powertrain warranty. Take it to a dealer for a diagnosis. Nissan automatic transmissions are known for premature failure.

does that pass on to the 2nd owner? Regardless, I agree otherwise, a trip to the dealership is necessary at this point.
