Recently louder exhaust moan any ideas
Most likely an exhaust leak. but if the noise is coming from the engine compartment, check the exhaust manifold for a crack. there are a lot of owners complaining about exhaust manifolds cracking in multiple years of your vehicle. even your year

Or someone stole your catalytic convertor… or tried to.

If you’re up for some investigative work, open the hood, start the car, and listen to the exhaust manifold. It it seems OK then listen under the Equinox for noise. Put it uponjack stands and inspect the area where you hear the noise. Hopefully it isn’t the exhaust manifold and you will only have to replace or repair the muffler or exhaust pipes.

Here we go again . One post and nothing after that . Would be nice to know just what an exhaust moan is . Has the person seen the replies , solved thier problem or just forgot they even posted to Car Complaints and it ended up on Car Talk ?
