Console lid hinge broke off. The console lid design was poorly designed. The end point of the console lid sticks out over the actual console. And when entering the vehicle or trying to adjust yourself in the seat there is a tendency to steady oneself by placing the right hand on the console lid, but if the hand goes farther out on the end the hinge can easily snap off. Can the actual console be replaced or am I stuck with a lid that flops around?
I would assume you could find the part in a junkyard. But since I’m not a mechanic I can’t say how much work would be involved or whether it would be worth the effort.
