2014 Mazda Mazda3 - Infotainment fell out

Entertainment console fell out and into the entertainment console spacing. Leaving the control knobs and the entire unit inside a hollow spot right behind the gear shift. Might this be a factory defect? Any reasonable solutions rather than spending $491.00, on a new one when the old one works.Thx

Can’t the current system be reinstalled with new mounting hardware?
