I have NIssan sentra with 60k miles only. Very well maintained and less driven. When the car is in parked postion the shift gear handle is locked and does not want to move, so I cannot drive the car. While there has not been a safety recall related to the shift lock issue, this explains one possible fix for this problem.

What does this statement mean?
Do the brake lights work when you step on the brake pedal?
There’s an inter-lock safety switch above the brake pedal that prevents the vehicle from being shifted out of park unless the brake pedal is depressed.
There’s also inter-lock solenoid at the shifter that the brake pedal inter-lock switch activates so the shifter can be moved out of park.
Either of these not functioning can cause this problem.
