i have a 2012 f150 fx4 oxford white that the paint is peeling off the tail gate ,doors on top of the roof pls help i took great care of this truck and there is absolutely no rust on this truck
Body shops handle this scenario on a daily basis.
Ford white. I’ve still got part of a can that I use for other projects. They’ve used the same color for decades. For a 12 year old vehicle though don’t hold your breath.
When they had to switch to water based, there were some issues with adhesion with the primer . Maybe still is. The bad news is though that a shop will likely want to take it down to bare metal and not trust the primer.
I’m not sure what kind of help you can get by posting on the internet about it. If you want it to look good, and for the sheet metal to be protected then you’ll need a professional paint job.
No dispute, but I expect the OP is wondering if this is a well-known problem caused by a manufacturing fault so it comes with a free or inexpensive re-paint repair? Worth a try, no harm to ask, but seems unlikely for a 12 year old truck. WW’s post above seems a worthwhile read.
Of all the problems listed on carcomplaints.com, paint was down on the list for that era F150s.
Check on F150 forums.
Well then. “pls help” was an odd way to ask about it, if that is the case.
No dispute, but OP is probably using a cell-phone to ask. Typing out a forum question while trying to be clear on a cell phone isn’t easy to do.
I 1000% agree with you on that, but if the OP is under 40, he/she can probably type faster on a cell phone then you can on a keyboard, anybody with more then one finger can out type me on anything though…
My son and good friend are both mid 30’s and are way way faster on a cellphone than a keyboard, I have seen this with lots of people, I am sure some 40+ are too…
And my smartphone adds periods for me sometimes, even when not wanted… lol
