I fueled at the gas pumps & then started it up, turned the air condition back on, put it in drive & gently touched the gas pedal. It then went into full trottle. The axles of the trailer that I was pulling hit the steel post. Then the back wheels were squealing away & I quickly shut off the key. Why did it go into full throttle? even with both feet on the brakes.
Welcome, your Ask Someone question has been redirected over to Car Talk…
Looks like this happened over 10 hours ago, so is the vehicle still at the gas station??
Or did you have it towed to a shop??
Or did you start it back up and drive it home??
Have you had a CEL light on prior to this happening??
Electronic throttle I assume? I ate at a restaurant today with parking on one side. I didn’t sit at a table along that wall. Toyota had serious issues with this when they started the throttle by wire system in 2005. The amount of lying they did to cover up the terribly unsafe design was incredible. Fords have been known to lurch forward, like full throttle for a fraction of a second. So now RAM is doing it too …
Someone said the number of accidental acceleration events is twice what it was compared to back when there was no throttle by wire.
If I designed it there would be a switch that closes at 10% throttle. If the throttle goes past 15% without the switch closing it would shut down.
I had a 2002 Camry that was drive by wire. Must have been an early prototype. LOL
