I have a 2012 Cruze 1.4L. I’m changing out the valve cover & casket. My question is do I need to reset the “check engine” and “stability traction light” before or after I install the new cover and gasket. Or does it matter ? Thank you in advance for any help with this.
It doesn’t matter since neither of those error codes can identify a valve cover gasket issue nor will they sense a replacement gasket is in place.
The bigger question here is; Why is the check engine light ans stability traction lights on?

These engines have a know issue with valve cover defects causing a vacuum leak. I don’t think the traction light is related, but the check engine light could be. I would reset the light after the repair.
