My starter and battery crank my 2012 Chevy Impala just fine and the fuel pump works perfectly at speed.but am getting the yellow engine light and the car is hard to start. The Chevy dealer wants to replace the fuel pump which will be expensive since it is in the gas tank.
Can anyone tell me where the fuel filter is on my car so I can replace it myself? Need answer fast since it is scheduled to go in this coming Friday to get the new pump.
Thanks in advance.

First off, I don’t believe you have an external fuel filter. It is part of the fuel pump.
Second, why are you taking an out of warranty car to the dealer for the most expensive fuel pump replacement around? Why not take it to a good independent mechanic? Be way cheaper.
And 3rd, do you know the error codes that set that yellow check engine light? Post them and we will see if we can help.
Thanks for answering. Was afraid the filter was part of pump. Yellow light just read out as “fuel pump”. No other useful info. Thanks for the advice too,
