I have a 2011 Subaru Impreza 2.5i hatback with a automatic transmission. When I go between 55 and 65 I hear a buzz saw noise coming from the rear of the car. The noise only happens at those speeds,on hills, and flat ground, and in curves, and on straight aways, but I never hear it at any other time. Does anyone have any thoughts what it might be?
Could be a bad wheel bearing
Yeah, bad wheel bearing or bad tires. Try rotating the rear tires to the front and the front tires to the rear. If the sound still comes from the rear, then a bearing would be my guess (although your car is awfully young to have a bad bearing, but I guess anything is possible).
Its not the tires because they are new, so I need to check the wheel bearing. I also thought the same thing about being so new.
How many miles?
Is the car still under warranty?
about 15,000 miles, and it is under warranty.
Have you already brought your car to the dealer for this problem?
Wondering if it’s a vibration from an exhaust shield or some other part from the wind resistance.
Yes, took it in twice they claimed to “not see anything”. Once for that specific issue and another time because my check engine light came on, cruise control light started to flash, along with the traction control light. They claimed that all the issues were related, and to fix it they said the computer needed reprogrammed.
