Do car companies measure and publish noise metrics?

Some may. Usually magazines that test drive vehicles do.

Yeah, car companies measure the heck out of cars for all kinds of noise. They don’t always do something about it depending on the competition and price point. No, they don’t publish that data.

If your car is noisey, I’d suggest your tires are a big part of it. Some tires, especially cheap ones can be very noisey.

Consumer Reports used to measure vehicle noise in sones which is on a linear scale as opposed to decibels which is on a logarithmic scale. However, CR no longer reports this metric.

CR might report noise levels on line. They provide a lot more information on line than in print.
