Rebuilding a T355 Five-speed manual transmission. Why is the output shaft serviced as an assembly? I would like to replace first and second gear syncro rings, but service manual indicates output shaft must be replaced as an assembly? Why? Will it break if I disassemble unit?
Maybe because it took some special tools to assemble or it just makes sense to have a good unit to use . You don’t really want to do the work but once so why not follow the service manual.
Probably because the manufacturer does not sell any replacement parts individually. They may be available through aftermarket sources. I doubt it will break if you remove it, just may be difficult if not impossible to buy replacement parts to repair it if anything is already worn or broken…
