I have a 2009 Ford Escape and have a remote starter with it(had it for a while), and recently, sometimes when I use it, the car screams while trying to start, even when I don’t use the remote starter, when manually starting the car with the key, it screams . Sounds more like a transmission issue but hard to tell with 5 seconds of footing.
