2009 Audi Q5 Petrol engine sound

Hi,

I have 2009 Audi Q5 Petrol done about 130,xxxKM. Recently the engine sounds a little bit weird. No error codes and issues when driving. Try to rectify the noise but have no clue where it’s coming from.

I’ve uploaded the sound of my engine on Youtube.

Please let me know what you think

Valves in need of adjustment?

I agree with VDCdriver, sounds like valve train noise.
Though my suspicion it might be something more than just an adjustment.
You will not know until camshaft and associated parts are inspected.

Yes
While the engine looks very clean from the outside, it makes me wonder about possible sludge accumulation resulting from infrequent oil changes.

In any event, I suggest that the OP get the vehicle to a qualified mechanic a.s.a.p., and not drive it for anything other than necessities until it can be checked by a good mechanic.

Sorry, unable to listen to the sound file. Is your engine a turbo or supercharged? If so that’s probably where your mechanic should start looking. Are you sure the sound is coming from the engine compartment rather than underneath, from an exhaust system leak or faulty muffler? Maybe somebody stole your cat.
